The Portrait of Indigenous Women in the Sustainable Development Goals

This book presents baseline data from nine Indigenous communities, examining food sovereignty, water access, management areas, poverty, violence, health, and participation in development. Its findings expose the gap between development targets and Indigenous Women’s realities: 98.1 percent of Haringen respondents reported that traditional land-clearing practices were prohibited, 71.4 percent of Jerowaru respondents had struggled to afford nutritious food, and most Tunjung Mas respondents believed child marriage affected more than half of their community. The book argues that protecting Indigenous territories is fundamental to food sovereignty, gender equality, and the dignity and self-determination of Indigenous Women.
