A Report on the Mapping of Gender-Based Violence Against Indigenous Women in Natural Resources Management

This report examines how inequality in natural resource management produces gender-based violence against Indigenous Women. Based on research involving 537 respondents, including 384 women, it finds that 66.9 percent of respondents have low incomes, while land ownership and leadership remain dominated by men. During disasters and conflicts, only 5 percent of respondents identified women as decision-makers. The report shows that development without free, prior, and informed consent does not merely take away land, but also undermines Indigenous Women’s livelihoods, ancestral knowledge, authority, and participation in determining the future of their communities.
